Jarod's parents bought him a brand new 2009 Toyota Matrix as a graduation present at Lithia Toyota of Medford, Oregon. He was selected by the dealership to receive a free Flip Mino HD camcorder to make a video of his new car experience.
Five hours after leaving the dealership, Jarod (17) was driving with his two friends along a beautiful deserted stretch of roadway near Mount Shasta, California when, out of nowhere, a young white tailed deer sprang from the bushes and jumped in front of the car. Unable to avoid the deer, Jarod hit the animal in a head-on collision. The camera captures both the accident and Jarod's reaction to the damage to the brand new car.
