Free Tri-Pods All Over your House... DOH!

This one is a head-smacker...

The tripod mount on the bottom of your camcorder takes a standard, 1/4" bolt with 20 threads per inch.  "Quarter-twenties," for short.  Most people have a number of these sitting around in convenient places, in a stable, vertical orientation, begging to be used as a tripod.  Do you have any lamps with lamp shades? Most of them have a shade mount that is a standard quarter-twenty.

In addition to the scenario shown below, you might have a very small lamp, sitting on a table in front of you, Flip mounted with a slight downward tilt, shade on, to use for vlogging.  With the right bulb, the lighting is perfect.

Here's a lamp in the corner of the living room, nicely positioned for a party or family gathering.
Here's the quarter-twenty shade mount. Note that it's tiltable.
Here's a Flip UltraHD, mounted with a slight tilt, as you might position it for vlogging.
Now, we put the shade back on, which makes it a very good soft light source in front of the subject.
Finally, here's a slide from the movie being taken above, with that lighting.
