Free Tri-Pods All Over your House... DOH!
This one is a head-smacker...
The tripod mount on the bottom of your camcorder takes a standard, 1/4" bolt with 20 threads per inch. "Quarter-twenties," for short. Most people have a number of these sitting around in convenient places, in a stable, vertical orientation, begging to be used as a tripod. Do you have any lamps with lamp shades? Most of them have a shade mount that is a standard quarter-twenty.
In addition to the scenario shown below, you might have a very small lamp, sitting on a table in front of you, Flip mounted with a slight downward tilt, shade on, to use for vlogging. With the right bulb, the lighting is perfect.
